HAND OVER THE MOUSE. Young people on Wikipedia - upload vs. download

The idea behind the project was to use innovative ways not only to highlight and encourage understanding of our cultural heritage, but also to develop the skills linked to research and the critical reprocessing of knowledge, with an intelligent use of information from the Internet.
The classes taking part were involved in the revising, supplementing and producing texts for the article in Wikipedia on their own local museum. As regular users of the Internet, the young people acted as information providers using various dimensions/bases of their own knowledge: Internet, School, Museum and Library. Activities were divided into various phases: in the Library, an introduction to Wikipedia and a sharing of the mission; at the Museum, meetings to learn about the collections in more detail; at School, activities to research information and draw up the texts according to shared procedures; on the Internet: entry of the articles using the criteria and procedures envisaged by Wikipedia.
The project was coordinated by Giulio Proietti Bocchini from the Municipality of Spello, with the collaboration of Maurizio Tarantino, Library Director at the Biblioteca Augusta in Perugia, and supervision by Antonella Pinna of the Region of Umbria.

Number of participants: 11 classes with a total of 214 pupils

The project was organized with the contribution of the Region of Umbria.
